ZACH Annual General Meeting 2026: Charting a Sustainable Future

June 24, 2026, 9:43 a.m.

The Zimbabwe Association of Church-related Hospitals (ZACH) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Harare on 26 March 2026, bringing together board members, member institution representatives, staff, and partners to review the organisation's performance and chart the path ahead. The meeting took place against the backdrop of a shifting global funding landscape, with member institutions and the secretariat alike feeling the effects of reduced international development financing.

Board Chairman Dr Clemence Duri opened the meeting by acknowledging both the resilience of ZACH's member network and the urgency of building sustainable financing models that reduce dependence on any single donor or funding stream. The AGM adopted a five-year strategic plan focused on diversifying ZACH's income base, strengthening member capacity, and deepening engagement with government health systems.

Executive Director Mrs Vuyelwa Chitimbire presented the annual report, highlighting programmatic achievements across ZACH's portfolio while candidly addressing the challenges posed by funding cuts affecting several key programmes. Delegates from member hospitals and clinics across Zimbabwe's 10 provinces participated in working sessions on sustainability, governance, and the future of faith-based health delivery in Zimbabwe — reaffirming ZACH's central role as the coordinating body for mission health in the country since 1973.
